It’s so easy to get wrapped up in what we are doing, to the point of us forgetting why we ever started in the beginning. I started Byw as a tool for self-improvement and growth a few years ago; I have found the tools and methods that I used helpful and I wanted to pass them and my experience on to others who may be interested in transforming their lives the same way. However, in my haste to ‘spread the word’ shall we say, it seems that I have forgotten to practice what I preach. In all the excitement of wanting to tell the world and the universe about the unbelievable ways we can all improve, grow and love our true selves, I forgot about why I started Byw in the first place – to improve ME. I forgot that as a student of life I should never neglect my core beliefs and teachings, as they will stop serving me as effectively as I’d like them to, and why should I blame them? If we truly believe in something or someone and expect it or them to believe in us then they deserve to be given equal respect and time in return. If we drive a car and we don’t take the time to look after it and give it care, no matter how good a driver we are, the car will eventually cease to perform. I suppose the same goes for myself and what I preach. So my friends, let it be said from this day forward I will be picking up where I left off and continue with my original subject: me. I shall of course keep offering any help and assistance to anyone that is in need of it, but with the extra assurance that I do – and will continuously – practice what I preach
Limbo
We all feel stuck sometimes; the feeling of not knowing what direction to go in for the best, confused about what’s gone wrong with our life, wondering if it will ever be the same again. We are not alone – it happens to everyone at some point, and it’s important how we decide to react to the situation we are in. In the last few months I have lost my job, my business is struggling and my money has run out; I’m up to my eyeballs in debt and to be honest with you all, I kind of feel unfazed by it all. Not in the sense of not caring, but more in the sense of ‘everything will be ok in the end’ – something is going to come along and cement my faith in the universe. I truly believe that when I need it, the universe will grant my ambitions and make my dreams reality. I should be at the end of my tether after the last 3 years of my life being tipped upside down, but I’m no longer taking any of it personally: as it’s not. I have simply had a run of bad luck and it happens to everyone. A lot has changed – good and bad – and I believe that when one chapter ends another one opens. I have changed as a person so why shouldn’t my life change also? Since starting on my spiritual path my eyes have been opened to what’s important and what’s not, and I’m at peace with the world. I feel no more fear, dread or worry about situations that are out my control; what is the point in stressing over spilt milk? Just clean up the mess the best we can and carry on regardless. I know things are going to be ok, I can feel it in my soul, I have faith in me to get through it and come out stronger the other side, after all I am Geraint Rhys Benney and I am the master of my own destiny. Whatever knocks me down will only make me stronger and more determined to be a better and more understanding human being.
Can Byw Help
Ok so today I want to look at what Byw has to offer you and why you should consider us to help you achieve your goals, dreams and ambitions. Can Byw help change your life? I believe the answer to that question is yes and I’m going to explain why. My name is Geraint Rhys Benney, I’m 43 years old, I am the founder of Byw life sculpting and and I rock. No – I’m kidding – the real reason I believe I can help is because I truly believe I can. I’m no mastermind, I’m no guru, I’m no mystic; I’m the same as you and if I can change, if I can improve, if I can keep growing and learning then so can you. Its that simple. All the methods I use, I have personally tried out myself and have found them all helpful in my growth. I believe in everything I talk about and teach, and wouldn’t waste my time or yours if I didn’t believe they worked. I don’t have all the answers, but I’m willing to search along with every person I work with, holding you steady and directing you to find the right course of action for you. Then, when you feel comfortable walking alone I’m always there for advice when needed. I’m not a baby sitter, that’s not my job, I see myself more as a guide of enlightenment in a world of darkness. As I said, if I can get over my fears and obstacles using Byw then so can you: that’s no boast, it’s a matter of fact. All the methods I use work when applied with focus and belief; I have made them as easy and simple to understand as possible, taking away any confusion or misunderstanding. I’m not perfect and don’t pretend to be, I don’t think anyone is really – we are all searching for answers to the difficult questions in our lives and it’s helpful if we have someone or something that makes us ask them about ourselves sometimes. After all, we are the masters of our own destinies and we hold the majority of the answers – we are just too afraid of finding out the truth about who we are on occasions, but by confronting our fears we become stronger and more grounded as human beings. We are all different, and at Byw that is recognized with open arms: it’s what makes us all special, unique, and it’s through our own uniqueness that byw works on improving our set goal. We work to help us achieve what it is that we have set out to achieve, by improving on what skills we already have but haven’t yet realized how to use them. For more information about what Byw can do for you then please don’t hesitate to contact us; improvement together.
What’s in a Story
We all have a story, our lives so far; but it’s not a story of who we are, it’s a story of who we were, it’s the story of what we have been and have done, and it can hold us back. It can keep us from moving on. We believe it’s all we can ever become and it’s not true. Our story is just that: a story. Like any story it can be rewritten, it doesn’t have to end in any other way than the way we want it to end. It’s not predetermined, we can change it for the better at any time we want; it’s all down to perspective. Every day we awaken and we are given the opportunity to start over. We can carry on as usual, living a life that we think we deserve, or we can decide to start living a life we really deserve – a life that can change everything we ever thought we were capable of having or doing, a life of fulfilment and achievement. I know I’m like a broken record but I’ll keep saying it until the message sinks in: “we can achieve anything we want to”, the only thing holding us back is us. We hold the key to the lock, all we need is the courage to unlock its potential and then believe in its possibilities. Start writing a blockbuster, give yourself the leading role, make it a story that will be passed down through the ages. We all have this ability, you and me are equals; I am no better than anyone and nobody is better than me. We all have the same abilities, it’s what we do with them that counts. I started Byw as a tool to help rewrite my life and now I want Byw to help you rewrite yours. We all deserve happiness, we all deserve a life of dreams and ambition, we all deserve a life with a happy ending. Life can be crappy: it can chew us up and spit us out without a care. It’s whether we decide to get back up or just give up that determines the future life we lead.
More than Words
I love talking and once I start it’s difficult to shut me up; there is nothing I like more than a chin-wag with anyone who’s happy to listen to my ramblings, and I’d hope that when I have finished the conversation I leave the person or people feeling happier than when I started. I don’t go around spouting positive quotes to everyone, no no I’d get locked up – I’m simply mindful. I try my best to only use words that have a positive effect. I give compliments, I take note of what’s being said to me and I react accordingly with a sense of gratitude and interest. None of what I say or do is false, it’s all sincere: I mean every bit of it, if I didn’t then it would be pointless. I believe how we react, the words we use and our attitude – if used correctly – can shape a life of happiness for us all. I’m not trying to treat you all like infants, but I want to try and spell out what I have to say in the simplest way I can. Each and every word we use has the ability to shape our life and the same goes for our attitude. Have you ever been in the position where you’re driving to work in the morning and someone pulls out in front of you? Yes it’s maddening, but you shouting and getting angry is only going to ruin your whole day. Don’t get angry, what’s the point? What’s done is done and as long as nobody was hurt then carry on with your day with the attitude that you are happy to still be alive. Give gratitude that nobody was hurt and start your day in charge. I could give a million examples of situations that can put a dampener on our day, but I’d be here all day writing about them. I suppose what I’m trying to say is that by choosing to own our day from the moment we wake up, then nothing can affect us without our permission. We are surrounded by negativity – it’s all around us – but we have the opportunity to be a light in the darkness, we have the ability to be in control of how bright we shine. Hands up who likes being around happy people? Or are you more at home around people who are grumpy? Id say the majority of us would chose happy; if you choose grumpy then you need this blog more than anyone. I have covered the powers of words a number of times in my past blogs – feel free to have a read – but I’ve never really covered our attitude. Owning how we are going to deal with our day is one of the first things we teach you at Byw; we work with you on how to sculpt your day from the moment you wake up until you go to sleep at night. If we complain about things, no matter how small or insignificant, then that thing owns us, it can get under our skin and eat us from within. We worry about other people and what they think when we cant even keep under control what we think. Our moods and attitude are not as hard to manage as we think, a few simple techniques and exercises a couple of times day can keep us mindful and positive before we know it, with no effort at all. It takes effort to have a life that we choose, but it can take more effort dealing with a life that we haven’t.
Hello again
If you are a new reader or an avid subscriber, I’d like to welcome you and thank you for taking the time to read my blog. Everything I practice and talk about in my blog I am still a student of, but I can assure you that the methods are tried and tested by myself before I encourage anyone else to participate. I started Byw – which means ‘live’ in my native tongue of Welsh – as a tool for self-improvement and discovery. It helped me deal with a difficult chapter of my life, along with the support network of family and friends, and I now want to give back and offer the support and experience I have learned to others who need it. Some of what I talk about can seem a little unusual and sound a little off the wall, but I can assure you that they work. I’m putting my name to this blog after all, (I Am Geraint Rhys Benney by the way), and I wouldn’t be doing so if it was all just mumbo jumbo. All I ask of anyone reading my blog is to come at it with an open mind; we don’t know everything – if we did then we wouldn’t have any problems in the world as everything would have an explanation and therefore there would be no disagreement. However, we don’t know everything, we know very little if we are totally honest with ourselves and that’s OK, as long as we realise this and are willing to try and consider new opinions and beliefs with an open mind. Byw is here for you and me, and together I believe we can not only sculpt a life of our own choice, but also a life of positivity and happiness for the people we love and care for. If I can help people through the creation of Byw, then that is what I will do in every way I can, as I strongly believe everyone deserves the opportunity of having a life that dreams are made of. So before I end, I’d sincerely like to thank you again for taking the time and reading what I have to say, and I hope that you will continue to support myself and Byw and its ethos of Improvement Together. If you are interested in anything Byw covers, or the practices I use, then please feel free to get in touch about the packages we offer on confidence and self-improvement.
Mindful of Mindfulness
Over the weekend I have come across, and been shown a couple of articles about the dangers of mindfulness and meditation. I have tried to read the articles with an open mind, hoping to find out why the people involved had such a bad experience, and to see if I could make sense of what’s going wrong. Hallucinations, paranoia, hearing voices and sounds and general confusion seem to be the main side-effects – but why? Using mindfulness and meditation techniques without a true purpose or direction – in my opinion – is the reason people are suffering from these symptoms. Ok, let’s put it this way: we are happy, everything is rosy, until we start using mindfulness. Why? We all have hidden memories, we have all blocked out moments in our life, moments we’d rather forget than confront, and by using mindfulness we can sometimes bring these memories flooding back with unexpected consequences. It’s an opening of Pandora’s box scenario. For a strong individual who is always in control it can bring feelings of doubt and insecurity – this is natural. Our minds are in the process of changing our whole way of living and our body and mind will naturally want to fight against it. Even by confusing our own senses, it’s our subconscious fighting back. Or, looking at it with a more spiritual outlook; we are getting in touch with our surroundings, we are seeing, hearing and feeling things we couldn’t see or feel before. Maybe we have developed a lost sense of connection with others? Who knows? I have felt all the above symptoms, every one of them, and I understand how scary and overwhelming they can feel – but I interpreted them as a sign that change was happening in my life. I embraced them and welcomed my new sense of peace, connection and separations with open arms, and by doing so I changed my whole life in the process. When we don’t understand something we usually fight it and demonise it, and I think this is the issue that the people in the articles have had; they got scared and blamed mindfulness instead of taking responsibility. I’m not saying mindfulness hasn’t got any downsides – I can’t, I haven’t got the proof to make such a claim. What I can say, is everything has more than one possible outcome – be it good or bad – and all the evidence that I have read and examined about mindfulness makes it (in my eyes) a real and effective way of gaining self-improvement, enlightenment and understanding. I believe the practice of both mindfulness and meditation can have positive effects on our lives when used correctly, and when anything is done with little or no real meaning or care, then problems can occur. If any of the issues we have been covering in this blog have affected you in any way please feel free to contact Byw for more information or guidance.
Beliefs
It’s good to be questioned about what we believe in; it makes us stop and think about what’s important and what’s not. The last thing I would ever want to be accused of is forcing my beliefs on anyone, as they are my beliefs and I don’t expect anyone else to think the same way as I do -unless they wanted to that is. In that case, I’m more than happy to spread the word of positivity. We all have a choice in what we think is right or wrong, or what is real or not real. I’m often told that my beliefs are ‘mumbo jumbo’ and it’s all hippie propaganda crap. Ok, cool, that’s fine with me; we all have our own opinion. What I do and what I practice works for me and it gives me the confidence to live my life with happiness and love for all man – no matter what they believe in themselves. I try my best not to judge others, always try and see the best in every situation and I believe we are all capable of achieving great things. If you are a regular reader to my blog you will know how I feel about mankind and how powerful I believe we are – from the bottom of our souls to the outer edges of the universe is our playground and every day we only live in (and use) a small corner of it. We are limitless, and by talking with that assurance in our words we can manifest lives of our choosing. There are many people believing in many things, who am I to say who is wrong or right? It’s not my place to make that decision, its nobodies place really, unless what people believe in is harmful to others then I find it hard to accept. What I’m trying to say is that my way works for me: how or why I don’t know, I’m not saying it’s magic or mystical, it simply is what it is.m, I don’t know the answer, but then again I don’t know how to fly a plane. I don’t question the pilot demanding all the facts on how it works, I just accept it does what it does and that’s a good enough answer for me. Not everything needs to be explained, as long as it works.
Nobody knows the Truth
What is the meaning of life? Do we really know? For me it’s happiness, happiness for me and happiness for my family, happiness for my friends and almost everyone else there is on planet Earth. For you it could be something completely different; I don’t know what it is, only you can answer that question. We all search for the meaning whether we know it or not, it’s part of who we are. We are always looking, but few of us actually find it. “Why?” I hear you ask. Simple; we tend to look outwards and not inwards for something that has always been there since the day we were born. The meaning of life is coded into our DNA, and once we become in tune with who we are – through mindfulness and the practice of meditation – the answers to life’s questions become clearer. I believe if these methods were taught at school our children would grow up to become more understanding individuals, with the abilities to cope with life’s trials and tribulations, with the ability to know their strengths and excel in their chosen field. We have a duty to educate our future and that’s what our children are – they are our future. We have a duty to give them the best start in life, we have a duty to give them the ability to have a better life than us. If the human race is to progress and survive, it has to look at other methods of doing things without mocking them or passing them off as a fad. There is scientific proof that meditation and mindfulness is effective when practised from a young age, and it’s time – as responsible adults – we opened our eyes and minds, switch off our TVs and seriously considered the welfare of the world’s children. There are many meanings to life’s problems, but our problems start with us and it’s within us we must start looking. By using mindfulness, no matter what age we are – old or young, boy or girl – mindfulness will change our lives. It’s time to wrap it up for now, but if anything we have said has peeked your interest, please feel free to contact us here at Byw. Thank you so much for taking time to read my ramblings and I hope that you have an amazing day.
Living in the Shadow
Living in a shadow
It’s great to have heroes, someone we can look up to and emulate; they can give us ambitions and goals, but they can also be the reason we underachieve. When we look at these people it can make us feel inferior, it can give us an unrealistic outlook on what is achievable without hard work or dedication. Everything needs some kind of work applied to it if we want to reach the finish line, but it seems that everyone wants the easy option without the fuss and they end up failing and giving up without really giving it or themselves a chance. I have heroes and I have people I admire, but I don’t want to be them, I want to be me. In fact, I want them to want to be me – I want to be the one inspiring them, I want to be a bigger and better version of not them, but me. I’m the only person I am competing against and I will stand strong and I will be successful. The only people we should ever be competing against is ourselves; we can’t be anyone else apart from who we are, what we need to do is learn to be comfortable with who we are and in our abilities. You’ll be surprised by the answers you find out about yourself when you dig deep, and surprised by how resourceful you can be when given the right opportunities. Here at Byw we offer you the tools and materials that will help you build the life and lifestyle you desire. We put them in your hands and leave you to mould your very own unique sculpture of your life with all the support and help that we can offer you to achieve success.
