Making sense of the chaos

I love the saying ‘making sense of the chaos’, I really do – because it’s a phrase that has been one of the driving forces of my self-development and growth. Can I make sense of the chaos around me and come out the other side in one piece and with a sane mind? Since starting my journey, how I perceive the world around me has changed and it’s given me an insight of the chaos and how I can use it to suit myself and my needs. We can sit back and believe that we have no power to make change or a difference in this crazy world, or we can stand up and decide to see through the madness and write our own story.

I have written about why we believe the things we do and how to change our beliefs to suit us and not our perceived reality, and I stand by every word I have written because changing my beliefs has helped me make sense of the chaos and given me the opportunity to have a better understanding of the world we live in. The truth is that nobody knows what they are doing; everybody is guessing because there is no guide book on how to live life. We are the authors of our own stories, we are the masters of our own destinies, and if we don’t stand up and give it our own narrative then it’s all too easy to fall in to the chaos that is life and become just another part of that story.

We have a choice: we can accept the world as it is or we can change it, it’s that simple. It’s not an easy task but it’s a task worth doing because the rewards are infinite. We are worth more than existing in uncertainty, fear, pain, suffering and all the other things that the chaos brings. We are infinite beings with the ability to achieve amazing things when we learn to believe in ourselves.

Influence.

Not everything we believe to be true is true and not everything we believe to be untrue is an untrue, it all depends on perspective.

What influences you?

Who influences you?

Who do you influence?

I ask these questions because it’s important for us to realise the influences in our lives and how they dictate how we live.

At a young age we learn much about life from our parents, our grandparents, family members, teachers, books, TV, film the list goes on, growing up we have had our lives influenced by many people and things even into our adult lives without even knowing it, we have taken on many of there values and beliefs about what is good and bad, right and wrong, true and false even real and fake and these beliefs and values even echo’s onto who we now influence.

As a coach, I talk with a lot of people that have trouble with living their lives because there belief systems clashes with how they live life and perceive it to be, leaving them unhappy, confused, torn, lost, alone and often depressed. My job is to help people understand that with adjustment to there values and beliefs through looking at why they believe the things they do and how they may not be true beliefs and they may not be serving them as they should be, we can then work together and find a clearer path that’s more rewarding mentally and spiritually for them, creating new values and beliefs along the way.

Every person is different and there is no one-way of changing a belief system to one that’s more relevant and truthful to the individual involved, its down to the individual them selves what they are willing to let go of and what they are open to learn that’s the biggest ask, because it can sometimes bring pain, loss, sorrow, doubt, regret and even fear before it brings strength, happiness, meaning, belonging, self value and love.

Changing our beliefs and values can change our lives in so many positive ways but its not easy, and having a coach supporting you, helping you, guiding you and most importantly believing in you throughout the bad as well as the good times, is an investment not only in your yourself but also in your future.

Open your mind

What do people actually mean when they say open your mind”?
Aren’t our minds already open?
I believe what people are trying to say is, don’t be afraid to learn new things, question the status quo, be inquisitive and don’t take the first answer you get as a true one. It’s sometimes hard for us to comprehend our own beliefs at times without looking at new ones with an open and non-judgemental mind. When I set out on my road to discovery I thought I was knowledgeable and aware of the ways of the world, but in reality I didn’t have a clue. I wouldn’t even look at – never mind study – anything I thought as mumbo-jumbo or new age hippie stuff. I’d laugh or dismiss without a thought and I’m not ashamed to say that I was wrong. One thing I have learned is to never dismiss anything, no matter how crazy or different from your reality it may be, for it may be the thing that changes everything for you. Writing this now, I think back to when I started my journey and how little about the world we live in i actually knew, and even though I have learned so much since, I have only just scratched the surface of it all and I’m looking forward to learning as much as I can to share it with anyone who is open-minded enough to listen.

Thank You.

I’d like to thank everyone that has taken time to visit my blog over the last few years and everyone who has supported and given me the belief that I can. I have been on a journey of not only discovery and awakening, but also one of learning and enlightenment. I have had many ups and just as many downs over this time, but throughout it all I have kept the belief that I would achieve what I set out to do: to live a more fulfilled life and to help as many people as I could along the way achieve the same. I recently attained my Life and Spiritual Coaching diplomas, making me an official accredited coach. It’s been my goal for the last few years to become a coach and here I am today doing exactly that. I know it’s a cliche when people say “who would have thought 10 years ago I’d be where I am today” but it’s true; ten years ago I was in a totally different place on a totally different journey and if you’d told me I’d be where I am now today I’d have called you crazy – but here I am. In 2013 my life fell apart and I felt I had nothing more to give and at one point no reason to live, but I was lucky to have an amazing support network around me that showed me love and hope and I began to find and believe in myself again. My story is my story and it’s made me the man I am today, but it’s in my past and I am now looking towards to the future and what I can achieve in the time I have left to do so. Helping people believe in themselves and show them that no matter how lost or insignificant they may feel, there is a way out of their situation and if they let me I can help them to move on and make real change in their lives. Nobody is beyond help or guidance – I truly believe that – and if I can help I will. The only thing that stops us doing so is our own unwillingness to forgive, move on and accept change. So this is where I am currently and I’d love it if you’d join me on the rest of my journey so together we can grow with belief, openness, respect and unity; not only to improve ourselves but support each other along the way.

Thank you for reading and I hope to see you all soon.

Connection

The people we surround ourselves with can and do affect our moods and our lives. If the people we are associating ourselves with are negative then that negativity is going to rub off on us with great strength – but we can protect ourselves from that negative energy. The easiest way of protection is to stay as far away from these people as possible, but sometimes that is easier said than done; especially when it’s family. I get told to “stop being so bloody positive” on a regular basis and I answer, “no, you stop being so negative”. Negative thoughts and actions are hard to escape sometimes and I understand that my positive attitude can be annoying to others, but their negative attitude is far more disruptive to my day than my positivity is to theirs. I have had to lose friendships over peoples’ attitudes towards me and themselves, but it’s something I have had to do to move forward in my life. We all have an energy that runs though our body; a kind of magnetic force that not only attracts the energy of the people and situations we encounter, but this force can also repel said energy. It’s the understanding of how this energy works that can help us use the force for our own benefit. Regular meditation and a healthy lifestyle is a good start to keeping our energy on a steady flow, associating with like-minded positive people is another. It’s never too late or too early to ground ourselves and take stock of who we are and how we can live happier and more settled lives. You can do It.

I believe that anything is possible if we truly believe in it. I have known, met and followed some amazing people over my years that have transformed their lives when everything except their own self-belief was against them. They believed that they could achieve their goals and dreams. All it took was courage and a mindset that they could do it, and that’s achievable to everyone. If you can do just one little thing, it should be to never give up.

Whenever we start anything new, it’s always a little nerve-wracking – and that’s only natural; no matter who you are. Everyone gets nervous, it’s how you learn to react to that emotion that can determine a positive or negative outcome. As a performer and entertainer of 25 years I still get nervous, but I’ve learned to use that nervous energy to help me with my performance. If we prepare ourselves and have everything in place to do the task in hand, then there is no reason for things not to work out as planned, so I’ve learned to channel my nervous energy into my confidence. I know what you’re saying: “that’s easy for you to say”, but it’s not as difficult as it sounds. With practice and self-belief we can learn to control our emotions to help us in all aspects of our lives. Along with emotions, we have our mindset that can get in the way. Our mind is a difficult maze to manoeuvre around but with practice, we can alter our negative thoughts into more positive and better serving ones.

Whatever your dream or goals may be, if someone else has achieved it then so can you. The only difference between you and them is that they didn’t give up, they believed they could do it, they prepared for it and they did it. I believe that you can do it too. Thank you for taking time to read this post, if you need advice or guidance then please feel free to get in touch.

Have a most amazing day and remember, you are worth it.
