The Choice

I was asked recently how I keep such a stiff upper lip in times of stress and turmoil, and how I never seem sad or down anymore. Well the answer I gave wasn’t expected, or at least I don’t believe it was. You see, my answer was: I do still stress out at times, I do still feel sad and have bad days just like everyone else does – the only difference is that I don’t let them consume me or ruin my day. I make a conscious decision to stay positive and calm whenever I can. It’s not easy and it’s taken time for me to be able to control my actions and reactions to everyday misfortunes, but anyone can do the same with determination and a little self-belief. It’s all too easy to complain and feel sorry for ourselves, but it gets us nowhere. Life needn’t be a hindrance; life can be amazing if we truly want it to be, and we can live it on our terms.

If you feel you’re getting the sharp end of the stick and life is being a bitch, or if you’ve simply had a guts full of feeling low, why not get in contact? Together we can build a better tomorrow for all of us.

Nothing is unless we make it so.

We all have different needs, we all have different beliefs – in fact, I’d say we are all as different as can be, but are still the same in many ways. Who we are and how we live is a complicated issue. We all perceive life in various ways, as if living in different realities. Some of us find life’s journey difficult, some of us find it less so; it’s all down to perspective and perspectives can be changed. But whose perspective is right and whose is wrong? Well to be totally honest with you, I don’t believe there is a right or wrong way – we are all guessing. There is no big book of how to live our lives correctly, unless we take religious texts into consideration – but they are only the ideologies of a group of people who hold their own agenda and not a reliable ‘go to’ book. If there was a guide book in my mind, it would have a simple premise: be loving, be kind, be happy, be grateful, be confident and believe. We all know right from wrong, when we should and shouldn’t be doing something. I guess what I’m trying to say is, as humans, we have the ability to make choices in our lives, we can stay or we can go, we can say yes or no, we are not rooted to the spot. ‘Nothing is unless we make it so’ is a statement I truly believe in; it’s the fundamental principle of what I teach and how I live my life. I believe if we live a good, positive life then good things will come to us, and we learn to appreciate life for the beauty and opportunities it brings. Me and you, you and me, we can be who we want to be, and if we shoot our dreams a little too far out into the universe and we run out of time, at least we would have had an amazing journey along the way.

You’re Worth the Effort

When life feels like it’s hit rock bottom, the only way for us to go is back up. Don’t see it as a bad thing, think of all the good that can come also. Life is a game and we can play along randomly, hoping we are playing correctly. We can give up and hide away from it all and pretend it’s not happening, or we can take charge, reinvent ourselves and start living by our own rules. Life isn’t easy and it isn’t fair, but letting it grind us down is a sure way of losing touch with who we are and who we really could be. Mindful Attraction offers us the chance of getting the ball rolling in a journey of self-improvement, self-awareness and burning belief that anything is possible with the power of you. Seeing people improve or change their lives gives me the drive to carry on with what I first thought was just an idea, and by sharing this idea I have touched so many people – not only my friends and family and my class attendances, but people from all over the wold that follow my blog and social media. Sometimes it’s easy to forget why we started something, but it’s ok as long as you remember that you did start and that our journey will not always be steady. Learning along the way is the key to remembering. Never give up on yourself, you are worth the effort.

We are not alone

Over the last few months I have given a number of talks on mindfulness and the law of attraction, and how they can transform our lives along with our self-belief. I explain how we can – with these tools – make a life that’s far more rewarding and satisfying by sculpting life on our own terms. After talking with colleagues and participants of my talks, I decided to start a mindfulness self-help group where participants share their mindful practices with each other, learning – as a group – how to share their experiences. Building a community of like-minded people is a quest that is worthwhile in my opinion. I have found over the time I have been practicing mindfulness that it’s not just a personal thing, mindfulness can be a topic that can have far reaching effects when used correctly; by bringing people together and talking about things with an open mind, with no expectations or bias. We all know that we live in a world full of chaos, but it’s nice to know that we also live in a world of compassion and understanding. It’s nice to know that there are others out there who think the same as us, and want to take action in making it a better world by trying to make positive change – starting with ourselves. We are all in existence together, we all have different outlooks and opinions, but we all know good from bad, what’s right and what’s wrong, and if we can build more mindful communities then maybe, just maybe we can alter the negative manifesto that is currently the norm. My group is still in its early stages but I have big expectations for its growth in the future months – only time will tell. On a personal level the last year has been a magnificent journey of enlightenment and self-growth. My eyes have been opened and my understanding of how my ‘self’ and life work together has changed positively. I am life and life is me: it’s how we interact with one another that’s important. If I can pass on any message of hope to anyone out there who feels lost and alone, then that message is, “you are not alone”. Nobody needs to be alone. We may have to change, we may have to alter our beliefs, we may have to admit we were wrong, but we never need be alone.

Heal the World

I spend a lot of time studying people; how they tick, their habits, wondering why they are like they are. I see people everyday who I know, without doubt, could do with Mindful-Attraction in their lives, but how do you tell someone that you think they may need help? I used to talk to people about Mindful-Attraction, but you can’t explain something to someone if they don’t really listen. The theory behind Mindful-Attraction isn’t rocket-science, it’s the simplest concept you could ask for: ‘we are what we think’. I don’t want to push any kind of different way of doing things unless someone actually says they want change in their lives and are looking for a miracle – but as I have found, people are happier to stay as they are if change is involved. I’m not saying Mindful-Attraction is miraculous, but what I am saying is that it can change our lives if we follow its basic principles. Mindful-Attraction has changed my life, truly it has, I’m not – and neither is my life – perfect and I still have a lot of learning and experience to gain, but it has given me more than I ever expected it to in such a short space of time. I want to talk to people who want change, who truly want change and not just talk about change. I have heard every excuse there is on why people can’t change, its very rare to meet people who have passion to change. And if Mindful-Attraction is to work then passion in what you want to achieve is just as important as the belief in it. We can all change, we can all adapt, we are humans and it’s how we have evolved to be the dominant species on the planet. It was all achieved through passion and belief that we could do it, so why have we as a race, lost our belief in our own achievement? I have a theory, but it’s long and boring so I’ll leave that for another day – what’s more important is how we can change it and I believe Mindful-Attraction can be not the answer, but at least a step forward in thinking. We all have questions; it’s time we started asking them and not always taking the first answer as the right one. By opening our minds and senses it’s surprising what we get to experience and achieve. Being willing to change our outlook, we can surprise ourselves with what we are capable of achieving. With dedication and direction there is no reason we can’t live lives on our terms, lives with happiness and fulfilment. The only thing stopping us is us.

Alone, not Lonely

I know there are some that think I have lost my marbles and that’s ok with me, I find it funny: funny in the sense that maybe I have lost them, maybe I’m living in my own little universe and if this is the case then hey, thumbs up, I’m a winner. When we don’t understand something we usually brush it off or mock it, or – even worse – turn on it and attack it. We are seeing it happen all over the world right now with all the political and religious differences. So why, why do we do this? Why can’t we see or accept differences in others? Fear; fear of the unknown, fear of being wrong, even fear of being right. The people at the top live in fear of losing everything and the people at the bottom fear not having anything, and at the same time they fear each other. It’s a roundabout of fear no matter where you are in life. But what is it we really fear and why is it in control of our lives with such a strong grip? I’m not saying I have the answers to life’s big questions; I don’t think any one person has, but I want to at least look at them and give my interpretation on how I see the world, so here goes on the fear of being alone:I’ve done this myself and still do it to some extent – along with almost every person I know. We all rely on someone or something to give us fulfillment. Be it a job, sport, family, a relationship, drink or drugs, we all have something that makes us happy, but sadly it’s not real. At least it’s not for the majority. I think about it this way: I like my own company and over time, spending time alone has made me a better human being. “Why?” I have no fear of myself and being mindful and having gratitude has been my salvation. Being in our own company can be petrifying for some and I understand why; our mind can be cruel and vindictive when it wants to be, it can eat us alive with inner dialogue running us down, convincing us of untruths about ourselves. It’s no wonder we look for reassurance from outside sources – we need something to believe in. But we forget that we are magical beings, each and every one of us, and we have become lost in the game of life by falling for the the oldest trick in the book of “needing”. We need to feel successful or a part to something. I’m not a loner, far from it; I have friends from all walks of life, I like people, I like being around people. I’d say I’m a people person and I think it’s my inner peace that allows me to be comfortable in the daily situations I find myself in. Life is a bitch after all – it’s how we deal with it that matters. I have a lot of beliefs that give me my inner peace, some that you could say are slightly off the wall to many but just as off the wall as believing we are watched over by a man with a grey beard who decides if we live or die. So like I said at the beginning, if I am a little mad then thumbs up to me – I’m happy as long as it provides me with the ability to live my life contentedly alone and with and the world around me. Being alone shouldn’t be a punishment for anyone, and once we learn to live in harmony with ourselves, everything else seems clearer and easier to deal with.
